Breastfeeding Support

We are here to help you make feeding your baby a fulfilling and positive experience.  Memorial Hospital is supportive of your choice to breastfeed, and it is our goal to ensure that you and your baby have a head start in experiencing the natural benefits breastfeeding provides for both mother and baby.

Lactation Services

Rest assured that a mother's milk has all the nutrition needed to keep a baby healthy, and only very rarely is there a medical or physical reason that a woman cannot breastfeed her baby.

Our on-site Certified Lactation Counselors are ready to help answer your questions and assist with initiating breastfeeding.  Our counselors give families practical techniques and support when learning how to express milk directly from the breast or into a bottle using a breast pump.  Our counselors also provide support and advice for any issues you may experience, including engorgement, sore nipples, difficulties with latch, and promoting ample milk production.
