MCHI in Aurora Designated as Top 100 Critical Access Hospital 2023Memorial Community Health in Aurora is pleased to announce it has been recognized as a 2023 Top 100 Critical Access Hospital. Compiled by The Chartis Center for Rural Health, this annual recognition program honors outstanding performance among the nation's rural hospitals based on the results of the Chartis Rural Hospital Performance INDEX™.

"We are truly honored to receive nation-wide recognition as a Top 100 Critical Access Hospital," commented Justin Wolf, CEO of Memorial Community Health, Inc. (MCHI). "This marks the fourth consecutive year MCHI has received this honor and is a direct reflection of the hard work and dedication of our entire healthcare team."

According to the Rural Health Information Hub's data in 2023, there are 1,358 Critical Access Hospitals across the country. "When looking at the numbers, it adds perspective to being ranked among the Top 100 in the nation. Within the state of Nebraska, MCHI is among 11 critical access hospitals to make the list," added Wolf. "We are truly grateful to our team and to the community we serve. It remains our top priority to provide the highest level of care possible for the best outcomes for patients and their families. It's because of our team's ongoing commitment to delivering exceptional care that such an honor is possible."

Now in its 13th year, the INDEX has established itself as the industry's most comprehensive and objective assessment of rural hospital performance. Leveraging publicly available data, the INDEX is trusted by rural hospitals, health systems with rural affiliates, hospital associations and state offices of rural health across the country to measure and monitor performance across a variety of areas impacting hospital operations and finance.

"Across the nation, top 100 rural providers continue to serve as a source of inspiration for hospital leadership teams and staff working diligently every day to improve the delivery of care within their local communities," said Michael Topchik, National Leader, the Chartis Center for Rural Health. "The list of award winners in each category is as geographically diverse as we've seen in some time, which is wonderful to see. We're thrilled to be able to honor the outstanding efforts of these top performing rural hospitals."
