MCHI Sleep Lab Receives Accreditation

Published on October 2, 2017

Memorial Community Health is pleased to announce that its sleep lab has been accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Health Care (ACHS).

Achieving accreditation is a process where healthcare organizations demonstrate compliance with national standards. Accreditation by ACHC reflects Memorial Community Health's dedication and commitment to meeting standards that facilitate a higher level of performance and patient care.

"We are pleased to provide sleep studies to our local communities and to now be accredited through the ACHC," says Lindy Mosel, director of nursing at Memorial Community Health. "Diagnosing sleep disorders is extremely important as inadequate sleep can have detrimental effects on health."

Studies have shown that sleep is essential for normal immune system function and to maintain the ability to fight disease and sickness. Sleep also is essential for normal nervous system function and the ability to function both physically and mentally. It's also essential for learning and for normal, healthy cell growth.

According to the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, about 40 million people in the United States suffer from chronic long-term sleep disorders each year and an additional 20 million people experience occasional sleep problems.

ACHC is a not-for-profit organization that has stood as a symbol of quality and excellence since 1986. ACHC is ISO 9001:2008 certified and has CMS Deeming Authority for Home Health, Hospice and DMEPOS.
