Published on May 22, 2018

Memorial Community Health, Inc. (MCHI) has been designated as a “Safe Sleep Hospital Champion” by the Nebraska Department of Health & Human Services (DHHS).

“Becoming a Safe Sleep Champion is an important addition to our hospital care and obstetrics (OB) program here at MCHI,” says Jessica Thomas, BSN, RN, CLC and OB supervisor.  “The training and policies we have set in place help to ensure we are offering a safe sleep setting for our tiniest patients, as well as consistently showing families the ABC’s of safe sleep:  babies should always sleep Alone, always sleep on their Back, and always sleep in a safe Crib.  We want all infants to have the best care possible and are eager to share more with families about the latest in care for their children.” MCHI Safe Sleep Champion Designation

“Providing consistent training and education on safe sleep for all hospital personnel caring for children under a year old ensures the same safe sleep message is shared with the parents of more than 26,000 babies born in Nebraska every year,” said Dr. Tom Williams, Chief Medical Officer and Director of Public Health for DHHS.
